I am regularly running into an extremely odd problem for which I can't find a permanent fix. It only occurs with parent pages that are based on other parent pages in files that need to be IDMLed (I would love to not have to pass through IDML, but sometimes our workflow demands it). Every fix I've found breaks again after IDMLing.
A simplified example file BadParent.indd is attached. Try it for yourself!
Parent A looks like this:
Parent B is based on Parent A so it looks like this:
After exporting to IDML and re-opening in INDD, it looks like this:
Using the Page Tool, I can see that Parent Page A is not aligned properly with Parent Page B:
I can "fix" it by realigning the pages on Parent B using the Page Tool, but the problem returns the next time the file is IDMLed.
Similarly, I can "fix" it by changing the Parent Options for Parent B to be based on [None] and then change it back to be based on Parent A, but the problem returns the next time the file is IDMLed.
Viewing the IDML in a text editor, I can see that there's something goofy going on in the geometric bounds for the Parent Pages, but I've got no clue what to do about that. Is there an interface for changing that? Or is it addressable via script maybe?
Anybody have any thoughts (aside from rebuilding all of these pages)?
