Hey everybody,
What is the origin of the term "pasteboard"? (Not as related to paper stock.) Does anyone have a picture of a pasteboard in pre-DTP days?

Yes, more photos please!
In Virginia, these were often called mechanicals, but I can't remember why.

Yep.. "mechanicals" was definitely a term used. I assume because we'd mechanically place all the pieces manually onto the artwork flats. 😉

Ditto. We had one print shop that called them that.
I suspect all the terms were regional.
