PDF in indesign background how to do

I have just installed a new Indesign version, but I can no longer make PDFs in the background. I can't work at the same time as a PDF is being made.

Which version of InDesign and OS?

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?

Exporting a PDF from InDesign shouldn't normally take very long – how long does it take you?

The PDF is fine but not in the background.
INDD 2022 OS 11.7 and 12.4

Even very large/complex PDFs rarely take more than a few seconds on my modestly muscular Win11 system. I can't think of a time I ever had to wait one out.

Check for “DisableAsyncExports.txt” file in the same directory as the Adobe InDesign executable file:

PC/Win: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign **

Mac: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Adobe InDesign CS5.5.app/Contents/MacOS/

If the file exists - delete it and you'll get back background tasks.
