Hi all,
I am very new to InDesign. I was working on a document and now all my text has pink highlight around it. I did some quick search online and check that in preview mode it is not visible. I must have accidentially turned out something. Every piece of text is highlighted in pink.
Thanks if anyone has tips to turn off - I am using a Mac so Menu advise might work better than shortcuts.

Is this document created in your system natively, from scratch?
There's a font(s) used in your document that is not available in your system. InDesign highlights it.
This behavior can be changed (but not recommended) in preferences: InDesign > Preferences > Composition.
Far better solution is just to change document fonts to those available (re-apply to your text).
Use Type > Find Font panel for this.

That's the visual indicator that you have text set with a font that is no longer active.

hi Migintosh,
Thank you for quick response. I am sorry as I know it is probably very basic question. I am very new to InDesign and need to do some tutorials but would is there anyway to "undo" this? or set the font back to being an active font? If that is to difficult to explain or very basic then not to worry, i think i can still use the document as PDF export of it looks good still.
Thank you in advance.
Helen

You can turn off the notification if you go to InDesign>Preferences>Composition and uncheck Substituted Fonts, but you really don't want to do that. What you should do is go to Type>Find Font and make a note of all of the fonts that are in the document. There will be a yellow warning triangle next to any font that isn't active. You can either change the font to something else, or find the font (if you have it) and activate it. If you don't know how to activate fonts, do a Google search for InDesign activate fonts.

Perfect ! your explanations now make sense. It is a template I purchased to create a portfolio for my work.
Thanks so much!

You need to install the font(s) or change them to one you do have.
You can get excellent InDesign online video tutorials of Pluralsite.com and Lynda.com – you can get 30-day free trials on both of them and ask specific questions on this friendly forum.
Which version of InDesign do you have and OS?
