I've created a psd in Photoshop with a linked jpg in it and a shape in another layer
When I place this image in InDesign the loaded cursor image is good but the placed image is way different: the shape distorts and fills most of the space, only a fragment of the image is visible.
Done it a few times, tried saving the psd as a jpg.

I tried the Insert Image icon but that said "This file type is forbidden" for both pdf and jpg.

You can post a JPG but not a PDF, here's a screen shot of where you do it.

Make a copy of the PSD, save it as JPG (maybe cropping it to fit the aspect ratio) and try placing that new image in InDesign.

Hi Derek
I already tried jpg, makes no difference, but I just discovered the answer: the psd has an old clipping path still floating around. Placing it with the path turned off works fine.
Thanks for helping me at least learn the forum, I appreciate it.

Yeah, I thought there it was something like that going on. That's why I thought if you saved it as a JPG it might move the matter on!
