Problem of importing text document from Google Docs - no character styles

Hello community!

I am importing long text documents from Google Docs to InDesign. All over the texts there are single words set in italic. When I place the text into InDesign, those italics get lost because in Google Docs there are no character styles, only paragraph styles.

Is there any way to apply a style to them in Docs without changing the entire paragraph? I was able to mark all italic words in docs using right-click and "select all matching text".

I could change single italic words to a character style after exporting to word etc., but then I cannot do the "select all matching text". I'd have to change them one by one.
