Problem with incorrect language when opening some self created files

Why do some of my english created Indesign files open in chinese language ,yet the majority open normally?

Do you mean the languge setting in the character style area? With which version of InDesign did you create the files? Which version of InDesign are you using now?

Language is an extended Character Property.

You  should define the language correctly in your Paragraph Styles, for parts of your text with different languages you have to create and apply character styles in those languages.

Before you use the text tool take care that [None] Character Style and the correct Paragraph style iselected.
