Hello,
I have uploaded an English idml file onto a Translation tool (matecat.com) to translate it to Korean. The translation shows correctly in Matecat but when I export the translation it shows all weird code like #$_09$####$.
It works fine with other file formats like doc, ppt, json, srt but not with idml. Matecat customer support said the problem is related to Indesign as according to them the export is correct.
Does anyone have advise on how to solve this either in the exported file or in the source file?
thanks in advance!

Herewith an example of the translation. It looks like there's an issue with the characters/fonts:

Can you please elaborate on that. What does Matecat show?
IDML is a collection of various XML files.
Sure I don't know how Matecat works I assume it can intelligently detect what exactly to translate there. That's why I wonder what does it show you on their website.

Thank you. See below screenshot of the Matecat webinterface (the font of their UX is Calibri in case that is relevant):

As far as I understand, their website only displays a list of converted strings. It's not like it displays a translated InDesign document.
So there must be something wrong with the way they create the final IDML file after translation (even if they claim otherwise).

I had never seen Matecat before, but I was easily able to drop in an English-language IDML and get their MT matches. Then I turned around and immedately clicked on Draft, which generated an IDML. It seemed ludicrously easy.
@T357944572nuc , can you explain exactly how you're getting that bad output, step by step? You are starting with an IDML, yes? Can you post some bad output? Your screenshot doesn't tell us what application you're seeing that garbage in; is that what it looks like when you open your IDML in InDesign?
