Problems packaging files with InDesign 20.5 on Mac OS Tahoe 26.0

When I go to package a file I get the error "InDesign could not package the document... Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)". When I go across the hall and use a Mac on Sequoia 15.7, no error. I went into System Settings and gave InDesign and Adobe Full Disk Access and Files and Folders access but it didn't change anything. Is there a fix or workaround or maybe an update coming to address the issue?

Hi Abhishek, thanks for responding so quickly. I did a test and when I package using files linked to my desktop it works like a charm. Anything linking to our server however is not working so I'm thinking the problem isn't InDesign. I'll reach out to our IT department and see if they can change something in the server settings. Thanks again!

Hi @Patrick33458651vl5r,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the details. I tested packaging on my side, and it’s working fine here, so this might be specific to your setup. Could you please try running your Mac in safe mode and then test packaging again to rule out if a third-party extension or software is interfering? Ref: https://adobe.ly/4mlIpzB

It would also help if you could confirm whether this happens with just a particular file or with all your files.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

You should bear in mind that company servers are usually not updated for some time after a new operating system is released. Server administrators are far more concerned with anti-virus issues and will not usually upgrade until a version of their third-party anti-virus program—that is fully compatible with the new OS—is available. That is only one of the many reasons that it is not a good idea to upgrade your computer as soon as a new operating system is available.
