"Reading..." file at bottom status bar won't go away

Hi all,

First off, apologies if I haven't named the thread/issue precisely – I don't know how to call it.

At the bottom bar of ID, you can see "reading...." when links are being loaded to display. However, this one won't go away. It doesn't have any effect on my workflow or anything else otherwise, but perhaps it signifies some deeper issue?

Here's the screen cap for reference:

Prelight and link panel shows no error. Appreciate any help!

I could not reproduce that but I suspect it could be fixed by deleting your InDesign caches. This process usually can fix interface problems.

To do so:

For Macintosh Users: With InDesign closed launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire file “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the cache file completely leads to a lasting change.

For Windows Users: On Windows 7 and above the caches files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select “Show hidden files and folders” or “Show hidden files, folders or drive options” in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version [version]\Caches.

Thank you Bill, I tried clearing the caches per your advice but seems like the problem persists, unfortunately.
