Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a strange issue in Adobe InDesign. When I try to move a selection or frame, as soon as I click and hold, it suddenly jumps far to the right of my cursor. If I drop it outside the page, it gets stuck and blocked. I’ve tried resetting preferences, checking snap/grid settings, re-installing InDesign, but nothing has worked so far. Please see the attached video for a better explanation.
Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

A recent Windows 11 patch update KB5050094 is probably what is causing this problem. Go to Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Update and find just the update KB5050094 and uninstall it.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for the quick reply. The only updates I currently have available to uninstall are:
I checked the update history, and the one you mentioned doesn’t appear. The latest update I have is KB5051989, with the previous one being KB5050021.

Did you follow any of the advice on this thread?
What is your OS, OS version, and InDesign version? (Exact versions, please.)

Hi, I've just been too busy but I'm going to try the Adobe Limited Access Repair Tool tonight, I'll let you know the outcome. Cheers, Jane (3.30pm in Australia atm).

Hi, I just noticed I had a Photoshop update to do, so just completed that and who would have thunk, now my Indesign is working (no jumping frame to the right when I select image). Ah technology, such a wonderously frustrating thing!

A Photoshop update shouldn’t logically affect InDesign, but here are a few possible reasons why it might have "magically" fixed the problem:
Shared Adobe Components - Adobe apps share certain system files, libraries, and frameworks. Updating Photoshop might have refreshed or replaced something that InDesign also relies on, indirectly fixing the issue.
Creative Cloud Dependencies - Sometimes, updating one Adobe app triggers updates to shared components or background services (like Adobe CC libraries, UXP, or preferences). If there was a minor corruption or misconfiguration affecting InDesign, this could have reset things.
GPU/Driver Adjustments - If Photoshop’s update included tweaks to GPU acceleration settings, it might have affected InDesign’s rendering behaviour, especially if both were using the same GPU settings.
Resetting Cached Preferences - When installing an update, Adobe apps sometimes force a cache rebuild or reset some background settings. This might have cleared a glitch affecting InDesign.
Pure Coincidence - It's possible that some other background process (OS update, driver change, or CC sync) occurred at the same time, making it seem like the Photoshop update did the trick.
Either way, it’s one of those “take the win, but I have no idea why” moments.

Some Windows 11 users say that they don't see the KB5050094 until they have rolled back the latest small patch that came after it.

Atrofio, have you had found anything that has resolved this issue as I'm having the same problem and it's driving me nuts.

Hi everyone, the only thing that I did was running the ¨Adobe Limited Access Repair Tool¨ but It wasn´t working after that, but I woke up today and the error was fixed, so not sure about what could have made it work at the end.
Thanks for all your comments.
