Separating Paragraphs

Jan 11, 2023 Jan 11, 2023

Is there a way to either push a paragraph to the next page or pull it back, so the last paragraph of the page is kept all on one page?

For example:

Pasted_Image_12_01_2023__06_30 (2).pngexpand imagePasted_Image_12_01_2023__06_30.pngexpand image

I've tried Keep Options. Keep with Previous, Keep Lines Together,  All lines, at Start/End, etc.. but it doesn't seem to work in my doc.

Does anyone know how to do this or of a script that does this?

You want to explore Keep Options, found in the Paragraph panel’s flyout menu. You can tell a paragraph to always keep all of its lines together or only a few. This means if there is only room for one line of a paragraph at the bottom of a column that line will be forced into the next column, page, or text frame. You can also control how other parargaphs keep together, say to force a subhead to always keep with the paragraph that follows.

Edit: Somehow I missed that you mentioned Keep Options. I do not know what settings you are using, so I cannot say why you are not getting the results you expect. If you want to share the file I can look at it. I have found the feature works as I intend it to.

Thank you for your reply. I don't understand why it wasn't working before, but I remade the doc and it worked this time. Thanks so much!

Scott is right. If your Keep Options look like Scott's screenshot, and it isn't working, then that is quite strange, and we'd want to examine a sample document showing that behaviour. - Mark
