Set default to CS6 when CC is also installed?

New Here ,
Aug 22, 2017 Aug 22, 2017

I have both CS6 and CC versions of InDesign installed on my Windows machine. I only use the CC version for certain clients.

When I try to open a CS6 InDesign file from the explorer, it opens with CC by default even when I specifically tell it to open with CS6 instead (Right Click > Open With...). InDesign CC hijacks the file every time.

I can still open files from within InDesign CS6 (File>Open), but would prefer not to use that method constantly.

Any solutions?

I use an very tiny app called Filetypesman, from a company called NirSoft.

Then I run the app (doesn't need to install) and set the default program to

open the indd file type and other variants, like libraries, etc...

Workaround - Uninstall CS6 and install again, which will then set the default application to InDesign CS6. It is not recommended but it works. Try at your own risk.
