Since upgrading to High Sierra all my InDesign files have become slow opening and generally slow performing any actions.
I am constantly receiving spinning cursors and pausing interruptions. It really affecting my general speed of doing anything and driving me nuts.
Has anybody else had the same or similar anything similar?
Okay, so you did a clean O/S install.
Let's look elsewhere. Have you disabled the auto activation plugin for Suitcase Fusion?

In place upgrade or clean install? I’m not a fan of in place upgrades on Mac.

Hi Bob,
Initially it was an in place upgrade. I then did a backup, erase and restore and still have the same issue.
It's a highly annoying problem as i'm literally working at half pace until it is rectified.

Is the O/S a clean install or not?

Steve W. has posted this: MacOS High Sierra caused an InDesign cursor bug in its initial release. Download the 10.13 Supplemental Update from Updates in the App Store to fix the cursor problem. If you download High Sierra beginning October 5, it contains the bug fixes and the Supplemental Update isn't required.

Thanks Derek but this is a separate issue to that problem.

The pausing now seems to be on every action i undertake, any click any shortcut etc all results now in a 2-3 second delay in doing anything.
It's is as though it is applying some kind of process on every kind of action i make, even clicking from stroke to fill or clicking in different pane fields.
Ive run out of ideas.... i've tried:
- resetting indesign preferences
- removed custom scripts
- deactivated all fonts in suitcase
- made sure preflighting is off,
- clean install of InDesign
- clean install of OS
- run maintenance programs imac
- run malware checks
Still same issue ![]()

Turning off the auto activation appears to have done the job, i've been using ID for a couple of hours now without any of the original issues i was encountering, and the drastic return to excellent performance feels incredible!
I can't thank you enough Bob!

First be sure you're up to date with patches on Suitcase Fusion. If you are, report that to Extensis. They have excellent support.
Suitcase Fusion 8 is coming soon, as well.

I have the same problem with long pinwheel delays upon launching Indesign and with any font modifications in Font Book. Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1 (17B48).
What would be a similar solution to the Suitcase solution in Font Book? I fear it's deeper: a large bulk of my fonts have become "serious error" fonts since updating to High Sierra. I can't find any solutions online to it, or reports of the problem.

Did these issues exist before you upgraded to High Sierra? Was this an in place or clean install?
Have you tried trashing your preferences?
What you're seeing is typical of what I've seen in the past with in place upgrades and why I always do clean installs.

this is a new issue to high sierra.
i got a notice from the app store to Upgrade! ; (after making a backup) I clicked OK, and it did its thing.
– i think that means it was an in-place.
i have not trashed my prefs. i will do this first and then look into how to do the clean install.
really appreciate your reply. i'll come back to report on results.
