small caps of Nexus not working

Explorer ,
May 31, 2023 May 31, 2023

When I use the font Nexus (Serif, Sans, Mix) I am unable to use Opentype smallcaps feature, eventhough the small caps are there. Small caps work with other fonts. What can I do?

What application are you using?

I've tried, and I get with the Nexus Mix Pro Regular the OpenType All Small Caps in InDesign:

Please post your InDesign here (a small test file will do).

Very interesting: I changed the dictionary from Dutch to English... and bingo! Indeed, any other dictionary, that I checked, was working.

I will move this thread over to the InDesign forum, as it has nothing to do with the font.

Great find (and very strange)! Thanks so much! Hopefully Adobe can fix this.

Yes, very strange. Let's see if one of the InDesign specialists has a solution. I always prefer the dictionary with the correct language, because of the hyphenation.

We've seen some reports recently of compound words not breaking on the included hyphens in some languages when no break is applied to the other characrters. I wonder if that's a related problem.

I'll take your word for it that his is not a font problem, per se.

I haven't come across what you mention. What does suprise me though is that words with a hyphen in the UK English set are not split or only in the second word.

E.g. "hyphen-problem"

hyphen-pro-

blem

I don't think thisis related to my small caps problem.

Further, the small caps problem I did not encounter that with other fonts, such as Tisa Pro. That is what made me think it is a font problem. Is it possible that the font Nexus lacks a script for the Dutch langauge set?
