Space before and after ?

Hi guys, as you can see the highlighted text 'the ink' had 3mm space before and 0 space after but when I add the 3mm to the space after it doesn't add it to the highlighted text but to a whole other block of non related text.. I've been struggling with this for so long now and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere? Why doesn't it add to the highlighted text but another block instead ?

That looks like a soft return, not a hard return.

The symbol "¬" indicates that there's a line break after your text, instead of a paragraph break.

Line break you can set by pressing shift+enter or right click.

When you use the line break instead of the paragraph break Indesign understand that you're still in the same paragraph.

In order to the space work you need the text in two diferent paragraphs, it's easy to solve. A simple enter at the end of your title will let it in a new paragraph. You'll probably need to erase the break line (¬) after, just delete it like any other normal word.
