Hi, I'm having a problem opening the InDesign application. Every time I try to open it I get an error, what should I do? I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, I even updated it. I need it for studying, can anyone help me?WhatsApp Image 2023-11-21 at 21.39.30 (1).jpeg

Update Ventura to 13.6.2. Do not move to Sonoma.

Apple fixed the bugs in Ventura but they've introduced new ones in Sonoma.

Launch InDesign while holding the Option, Control, Cmd and Shift keys down. A pop-up message will ask you to confirm that you want to remove your InDesign preferences. Accept the warning and see if InDesign now starts correctly. This is the commonest fix for strange InDesign behavior.

If that doesn't do it, try rebooting your machine. Since you're on a Mac, check Permissions.

If that doesn't handle the problem, uninstall InDesign and install an earlier version by using the "Other versions" option in the Creative Cloud app:

Try to reset preferences: quit InDesign and relaunch it while holding down the Shift, Ctrl and Alt keys [Windows], Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd keys [Mac] until you see a warning message asking for confirmation.

We could help you better if you could tell us more about your system: Please tell us (exactly) what InDesign version you're using. Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running.

From the screenshot it is clearly a Mac. And it also shows clearly version 2024 of InDesign in the crash report.
But indeed: what machine (Intel, Apple Silicon?), Ventura, Sonoma, memory etc. Is the native Apple Silicon version installed or Intel running under Rosetta? In short: try a complete uninstall (including preferences), then reinstall again could help.

I agree, Frans. If you look at a lot of the problem on this forum, on a Mac they involve combinations of operating systems that aren't supported (Sonoma) or systems that are not up-to-date (running Ventura 13.2 instad of 13.6.2. Those issues cannot be solved by reinstalling or restoring preferences.
