text boxes aren't visually aligned, and text gets wonky

New Here ,
Sep 02, 2025 Sep 02, 2025

I've been working with several documents and noticed that the text boxes aren't visually aligned, which results in a distorted or uneven text layout. Interestingly, the issue seems to "resolve" itself when I zoom in to 180% or higher. I'm wondering if there's a proper fix for this, or if anyone else has experienced something similar?

Hi @Kenshiro ,

thanks for your screenshot:

I'd say this is a screen redraw issue. Depending on, perhaps, GPU support on vs off.

Check your InDesign preferences if it makes a difference to turn GPU support on or off.
Annoying…

We're in a VDI, and gpu unfortunately is "undected". This is a new issue so maybe I'll just have to wait for future updates?

Hi @Kenshiro,

Thanks for sharing the details and screenshots. To help us understand the situation better, could you confirm if this misalignment issue is also present when working on a local machine, or is it only happening in your VDI setup? We are not entirely sure what the VDI setup is pulling in terms of resources, so seeing if it occurs on a local machine will give us a clearer picture.

InDesign is designed to work across networks, removable media, and cloud-synced folders like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, and it has been tested across many configurations. However, not all setups, including different software, hardware, settings, and access rights are covered, so it is possible that your specific configuration is causing this unexpected behavior.

Looking forward to your update, so we can investigate further.

Abhishek
