Text flow and formatting issues

Hi all,

I have a docx provided to us by a customer. I checked the formatting/paragraph marks (screenshot attached) and all looks good. When I place this into InDesign and shift click to flow, all spacing gets disregarded. I tried different ways of placing the text with the same results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That looks like you saved as Word from Pages. That will not work well at all (as you've already discovered). Open that file in Word and save as DOCX there.
