Text from SDL Trados not appearing in InDesign

Explorer ,
Sep 11, 2024 Sep 11, 2024

Hello,

I was supposed to translate INDD files from InDesign in SDL Trados, so this file had to be saved as IDML file.

Now that the translation is complete, I needed to open these IDML file back in InDesign.

I discovered that some texts that I translated in Trados are missing in InDesign now.

Could it be that my options in Trados were not set well before importing the indd file before translation or should I have changed something in InDesign, please?

Thank you for any advice.

Hi @Miriam348 ,

never worked with SDL Trados itself, but could it be that the missing text is in overset text frames?

Watch out for a red [+] widget at the right lower edge of text frames.

You'll be able to see into overset text with the Story Editor window:

Select the text frame and hit the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Y ( macOS ) or Ctrl + Y ( Windows );
actually it's Strg + Y for Windows with a German keyboard…

As @Laubender mentioned, it can be overset.

Or it's possible that you haven't configured Trados properly - haven't excluded all the XML tags.
