Transparent object but no transparency effect

New Here ,
Sep 16, 2021 Sep 16, 2021

Hi everyone.

I have a problem with an .indd file I have received. I see an object as if transparency is applied to it, but when i go in the Effect Options, I see that the opacity parameter is set to 100%. Do you have any idea on how to remove this transparency effect?

Thank you

If that is a placed object, check in the original program to see if the transparency was applied there.

Could well be imported from the native program if that's a link.

Another thing to check is whether it's applied to the text itself, not object - in your screenshot, change that drop-down to Text and you'll see if a transparency is applied just to the text.

There are two possibilities here. Either you've clicked on the graphic frame using the regular selection tool (black Arrow) and are getting the reading in the Effects Panel for the frame containing the graphic or you've clicked on the interior of the frame (on the graphic itself) using the direct selection tool (white arrow) and are getting the reading in the Effects Panel for the graphic itself. Whichever way you actually did do the selection—do the opposite and then see if the Opacity reading in the Effects Panel is more truthful.

Actually a third possibility occurs to me. Have you checked the graphic in its native program (Photoshop if it is a raster image, Illustrator if it is vector)? The only hiccup here would be if the person who created the file actually copied and pasted the image into the frame rather than importing it from its native program.

Agree with Bill - it's probably selected the graphic itself and not the frame.

You can tell if the transparency is applied in another program. Put something behind it and  you won't see through it.
