Trying to figure out how I made this underline because I need to remove it

About five years I created this file for a book that I worked on and used InDesign 5 (at the time) to create these underlines underneath text. See the screenshot for an illustration. I know for certain that I did not create it using the underline function in ID because when I click on that function it creates a new underline underneath the one present. So the line is in the text box. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out HOW I did it so i can actually remove it, as the line doesn't look good anymore when the page is printed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Matthew:

Supporting Vladan's answer:

  1. Click on the text.
  2. Click the hamburger icon on the far right of the Control panel to open the Control panel menu > Paragraph Rules.

  3. Uncheck Rule on.

  4. If using Paragraph styles, right click the style > Redefine Style.

Barb I would love to know why you call it the hamburger icon?

It's a short and amusing reference to the appearance of a menu icon in Adobe applications. It looks like a stack of hamburger patties:
