Type 1 Font Warning...no Type 1 fonts in the Document. Confused.

So I got the warning that everyone has been recieving about Type 1 fonts going away. In one of my ID documents it tells me that I use 7 Type 1 fonts. But when I click on the "7" fonts it says I am using and I look at the pop up, it says "Type 1 Fonts: 0". I am so confused. Does this warning mean that they are somewhere hidden in this document or that I just happen to have 7 Type 1 fonts on my computer? The warning is not specific enough. Adobe do can you clarify?

Start by checking the style definitions in your document. Are there Type 1 fonts called in unused styles?

Well, it could also be that in the past 7 Type 1 font styles were used in the document.

And this information was ingrained in the document's code and was never updated.

So the info in the blue bar could be misleading.

To get to the source of the warning:

[1] Export your document to IDML.

[2] Unzip the IDML container package.

[3] Open the Fonts.xml file inside the unzipped folders with a text editor and search for:

FontType="Type1"

You may find 7 entries that could tell you what font styles are or were used.

Further to Uwe's comments, you can safely ignore the warning. It's annoying at the moment, but based on the number of people experiencing this same issue, it will be just a matter of time until Adobe adjusts how their detection routine works.

If it makes you feel any better, I just opened a file that is a simple invoice and has only 4 fonts used in it, and it's reporting 94 Type 1 fonts. 😉
