Is there any way to type on a path with multiple lines of text on the same path, with InDesign?

No. Every line requires an extra path.

FWIW: You could thread text paths with other text paths.

Just as you can do it with text frames that run a story through several pages.

I thought about that but it would be a nightmare.  This is for a tapered product label.

Did you consider doing this with Illustrator?

There are warp tools or you could use the old version of the 3D tools there.

The new ones would not fit, because the rendering is done to pixels.

Ill consider it, going to try it with InDesign for now and see if it will be less frustrating as I am expecting.  I started something last night and it seems to be going somewhat ok.  We will see!
