Update Modified Links Prompt Issue

New Here ,

Hi, I've been making updates to a linked template in Adobe Indesign version 19.2 x 64 (now I've updated to 19.3, but I still have the same issue). Not even AI can seem to help with this. I saved my unmerged linked template file on accident after I embedded my links and when I reopen it no longer prompts me to update modified links. I check the link though after reopenning and it doesn't give me the unembed option, instead it acts like I haven't embedded them. Also when I reopen, instead of prompting me, it just tells me that my links are missing. So I go back through to relink each one of them (and there are several), and then I save and close to test if I get the prompt to reopen and update modified links. However instead, I still get the message earlier that says that I have missing links and I have relink all over again. I have an older file where if I open it, it still prompts me, but if I save afterwards after making a single update not related to the links, it also all the sudden no longer reopens to prompt me to update the modified links. I want to just be able to get the prompt like it was working before, I just need to update some text and save the template. Is there any fix to this?
My links are on a SharePoint site by the way and like I said, it worked on an older template, it's just not working after I save to prompt when I reopen nor in the other file I accidentally embedded.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

What happens if you keep your links on your hard drive and import them into an InDesign file? If it works correctly working only on your hard drive (not asking for missing links each time) then it seems like it's likely a Sharepoint issue. Possibly the Sharepoint site needs to be updated for compatibility with the latest versions of InDesign.
