I must have accidentally hit something, because when I drag a ruler or grid line from the side of the page, the values indicating x or y position are so tiny I can't read them. No clue what I've done, but I can't work with them like this. Any help appreciated.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi @paula_1972:
InDesign's UI scaling is in Preferences > User Interface Scaling, but it changes everything and not just the tool tips. Did all the sizing change, or just the X/Y values on the ruler guides?

Thanks for your reply. I must have a different version, as I don't have these exact menus. There's no option in preferences -> interface. Eveything else (cursor, other text) is normal size, it's just the values of the grid/rulers that have changed to tiny. I'll attach a picture

Not only is the InDesign but it appears to be an ancient version. I'm sorry but you're pretty much stuck with what you have. You can try trashing your preferences in case something's happened to corrupt them.

Legacyware is not Hi-DPI aware. Old software isn't compatible with newer equipment.
One solution is to upgrade to modern software that is compatible with newer displays.
The other option is to reduce your display's resolution settings from your operating system.

I don't think the monitor is the issue. It looks like an HD monitor (1920x1080), which is fine. If it was uHD (4K+) , the menus would be practicly too small to read.

No "probably" about it--you have an old version. By the looks of the icon, I would say CS4 which is about 16 years old. What ever you do, don't update your computer's OS.

Thanks. I should have mentioned in my original post that I'm working with Adobe InDesign, so this option isn't available.

Windows Magnifier:
Hope that helps.

thanks, but that zooms in on the whole page. All I need is ot get the tiny values box to appear bigger.

You can change the Magnifier settings to screen, docked, and lens in the Settings. Lens doesn't work, but docked did. Just turn it on when you need it, and then off as soon as you are done.
(Or use the Control panel as I suggested. Trying to be accuracte reading the numbers can be problematic depending on your zoom level.)

I usually just drop the guide on the page and use the Control panel to place it. (Make sure you don't deselect it.)

Not sure which version of Windows you're running, but you may have the option to change the scale of the intrerface in Display Settings. If I recall this will also scale everything.

Yes, it is a system-wide scale. The OP can try setting the scale on just InDesign, however.
Locate the program, right-click on it, and select Properties.
Then experiment on these settings:
Keep in mind that this will affect the entire InDesign program, so all items will appear larger.
