Variable font in InDesign 2024 is breaking my design!

I use the font Lexend as a header font in all my company communiaction. Since the update to Indesign 2024 the font is broken. Only the letter T is affecetd by font weight when it is more than 400, making it impossible to use the Bold version of the font.
This is really not good and I can not produce any designs for my company withe the right profile.
Is there a way around this?

Another user a few moments ago had a similar issue
I recommended reinstalling the font - they were able to find it on Adobe fonts and activated through there.
Dunno if same issue.

I have trried to reinstall to no avail. Lexend is a Google Font and unfortunatley not available in Adobe Fonts.

Are you using a Font Management system? Can you clear your font cache?

i have the same issue. It has nothing to do with font cache and it isn't an issue with the font itself. I think it has to be a bug in the adobe ecosystem

You do not need to revert to Inesign 2023 - install fixed width fonts and you keep the benefit of using the latest software version.

Well, that is an intermediate solution if you have to use the latest version but if you have older files with fine tuned variable fonts it is safer to use 2023. For my part I have not used nor do I crave any of the new features so I don't see any difference.

I deleted the variable weight font and installed the fixed versions - problem went away. Bit annoying, but this did work.

Problem is that there are no fixed version of Lexend. They are all based on font weight of the original version...

There is - if you download from Google it downloads both - the fixed weights are in the folder "static"

It is a bug concerning variable fonts. Not static ones. Nevertheless it is a stupid bug. As a designer you want to get use of variable fonts and not deleting them, just because adobe is not able to implement them properly.

Well, yes I totally agree. But I am not Adobe, and I have just provided a practical solution. You're welcome.

If a similar problem with Variable Fonts via my Monotype Fonts subscription. Fonts work fine in InDesign 2023. In 2024 the fonts are missing and when adjusting any parameter of any variable font it breaks.

Another designer in my agency and I having issues with Helvetica Now which is being served through the Monotype App. We solved the issue by reverting back to 2023.

If you install static fonts, 2024 will work just fine - reverting to 2023 could bigger problems. Static fonts seems a better choice, to me at least - your circumstances may differ though.

I have this exact same problem with Helvetica Now. Adobe needs to fix this.

Same here as seen in the screenshot. From Thin to Regular the font works correctly but after that it breaks. In Illustrator the variable font works perfectly.

Independent font developer here: I can confirm this problem for InDesign 2024 and also Photoshop 2024!
Strangely enough, everything is as it should be in Illustrator 2024. Other programs such as Pages or Word also do not have this problem with variable font files.
With all Adobe 2023 programs that support variable fonts, everything worked perfectly. What is the problem Adobe? This needs to get fixed immediatly!

The problem with variable fonts had been reported here and is supposedly fixed in versions 19.1.x.
But this is not what I see. I have tested both 19.1.043 (now current ID 19 release) and the pre-release 19.2.0.43 and I still see the same problem with Futura Now Variable font: The sliders in InDesign still DO NOT work properly and the font is unusable!
So I am still using v. 18 because I have used this font in several designs.
Needless to say it would be very useful to have some clarifications from Adobe. What is going on here?
It seems to me that there were multiple issues with variable fonts in InDesign 19.x and only some of these problems have been fixed.
