What is the maximum size to create an indesign file ?

Hi everyone,

I want create a billboard banner of 11500 x 6200 mm with Indesign ; but in maximum I can create a folder of 5486,4 mm.

Is it possible to create this size of banner ?

How can I create this ? With margins and funds lost ?

Scale it down or use a different application.

You need to create your artwork at a scale percentage, 10% or 25%, best check with your printer which % to use as they can get funny sometimes when a pdf is supplied at 'wrong' scaled size. Bear in mind the resolution of any images will have to be that much larger in the scaled file to allow for sizing up.

I would create all artwork at 10% because it's easier to calculate numbers.

Even if InDesign would be able to create a large page like 11500 x 6200 mm I still would work in a 10% scale, because zoom out is restricted to about 5% and you will not be able to see the whole page on the screen.

Other restriction: Maximum size of unscaled text in a frame is 1296 Pt*.

( Maybe there are other limitations I never encountered. )

*Could depend on your version of InDesign.
You could work around this by using scaled text, but at a particular point ( 1000% with 1296 Pt or perhaps less ) you'll see composition problems.
