I don't see any of this anywhere. I have been searching for it over 30 minutes ontop of searching how to even make a shape in the indesign itself, gave up and google it, now it says this but there is only the line, nothing else anywhere.

Title edited for clarity by moderator. Was "Where?"

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Am I the only thinks that's dumb? Terrible place to hide that.

Now i have a 2 by 2 table, been trying and trying to copy the one completed table to the other three, between absolutely everything under the sun being greyed out, the lack of no features (probably hiding somewhere in the rectangular tool) and zero functionality, I can't select the whole table, i cant paste the whole table i can not copy and paste each element because it don't work right so now where is the magical button to clone a table to the other tables?

I am literally going to have to make each cell in this table one by one by one by one. Adobe is useless.

First things first.

Be aware that this is a user to user forum. Yes, Adobe Staff do monitor this, but questions are largely answered by other users of InDesign, people like me. Sometimes we do this in our spare time, other times we do this while doing our own work (like I am at the moment), so getting instant answers isn't always possible.

Now, onto your concerns. It's difficult to determine what you are having difficulty with because while you can see the issue on your screen, the explanation hasn't come across so well in the follow-up post. If you can screen-grab what you are having difficulty doing and post it into a new forum post so that your question isn't confused with your original post, we will certainly try and assist you.

That said, how often do you use Adobe InDesign? If new to InDesign, there are some concepts that can be hard to grasp at first, and its learning curve is admittedly steep.

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

How did you make the table?

As mentioned in previous posts, InDesign is a professional level (and very successful) publishing application that has a steep learning curve. You’ve just started to use it and you are already complaining about it and the company that produces it. I suggest that instead, you get some training on how to use it properly.

Perhaps personal training is best, but usually the most expensive (some colleges and private training companies provide these courses). There are also some excellent books, such as the Classroom in a Book series (which includes links to videos): Adobe InDesign CC Classroom in a Book (2018 release) | Peachpit  and online video tutorials (free from Adobe via the Creative Cloud app) and paid for and more methodical, from Lynda.com (you can a get 30-day free trial). And, of course, you can ask specific questions on this friendly forum.

You did not mention that you were working with a table. if you are trying to stroke cells in a table use the Window > Stroke pannel.

Once you select the cell or range of cells you will be able to target which cells you want to have stroked and how. The documentation in the help, and the basic tutorials are really quite good. Create table in Adobe InDesign or Easily add images to table-based layoutsTry it, 6 min

From reading his posts, I don't think the OP is even aware of InDesign's Table feature!

Well, it's there on the menu along with Window, but some people it seems don't look at menus. That might be the root of "terrible place to hide" as a view. Going to need to look at all of those menus and become very friendly with them... !

Checking the OP's other posts here, I'd say he/she is just looking to stir up trouble.

Uau!

When I was a newbie on Quark / Pagemaker (a decade before INDD) and had no clue how to get the work done, I remember that our approach on forums was a WAY more polite than the OP.

Hi Christopher,

so you want to change the strokes of table cells and you are asking about the drawing tools?

That reminds me of PowerPoint where one can change the strokes in cells with a drawing tool of sorts.

InDesign is a different beast.

Forget about Microsoft Office and start all over learning InDesign.

Best,
Uwe

I can't figure out why anyone would expect to know exactly how to use InDesign the first time they open it.

Get some training. Watch videos on Lynda.com (LinkedIn Learning). Buy Sandee Cohen's book (Visual QuickStart Guide for InDesign). Visit InDesign Secrets.

Here's a video about working with Tables: http://www.jeffwitchel.net/2014/06/bringing-easier-editing-to-the-table-in-indesign-cc/

I wouldn't usually mention this, but as a moderator, I can see that Christopher (the OP) posted a very bad tempered and profane response this afternoon which was rejected by another moderator. (Only moderators can see rejected postings in a thread.) It's probably best to not give him too much attention until he changes his attitude toward the forum and the people here who are trying to help him.

I'm locking this thread.
