Hi guys,
Which do you think is the best or more effective way to make Pull Quotes on running text?
I have two ways, but i am not extremely happy with them
1) Make a white rectangle with the Text Wrap on and place the text above. Not bad but i always have to use a different white rectangle for the various paragraph lines 2,3,4 text. Besides there is 2 elements (the rectangle and text) that i have to move around with a higher possibility of making a mistake.
2) the more traditional Text Wrap to the Pull Quote text, but "jump" when it does touch the baseline grid which ends up in different spaces above or below the Pull Quote.
Maybe some more expert user has a lot better way to have a more "consistant" Pull Quote. For example something like this

Thanks and Cheers,

I think there are just too many variables at work to be able to automate postioning or the pull quote frame unless you are able to always use the same frame height, or some multiple of the leading value as the frame height. In that case you could experiment with anchoring a frame relative to the line (you'd probably have to anchor it in the previous line to get the wrap to work the way you want), then position the first one manually and not the distance below the line. Add that to the object st

Why a "white" rectangle? An ordinary text frame with wrap applied will work just fine.
I make an object style for pull quotes that sets the paragraph style (which can include rules above or below) or perhaps a stroked frame or tinted fill and some insets -- whatever you use for your own quotes -- the apply the object style and fit frame to content.

Hi Peter, thanks for the fast reply

That option doesn't work right all the time if your running text column is snap to baseline grid as it most commonly used in books or magazines. If you want to set a value above and below the Pull Quote which is different from the baseline increments it will give you not even spaces up and down of it.
Thanks for the idea of using Object Styles, i will try it right away.

The type or color of the frame that contains the pull quote has nothing to do with your problem of snapping to the baseline grid or the unbalanced space above and below, for that matter. That's going to be the same no matter what you stick in the middle of the column. If the text wrap forces the text to skip a line, it's going to skip to the next grid line. The reason you get the unbalanced space is that text above is wrapped if the baseline falls into the wrap zone, while below it's the entire height of the type that is affected. It's always been this way, and you just have to adust the position of the frame vertically by eye to get an even wrap above and below.

Thanks for the info Peter. I just asked if it was any way i couldn't need any manual or eye adjustment but since your way is the more usual way to do a Pull Quote.
Cheers,

This would only work with text set on that particular leading. Change the leading and the positions would need to change, and if the anchored frame dimensions change, they would also need to change by the same amount as the leading or the spacing at the bottom would get out of balance.

Good tips Peter. I will try to work my next project with a consistant features: leading, spaces and so on, so i can have almost automatic pull quotes and not worry to much about eye adjustment.

Just FYI:
My Side Heads plugin can be used to automate the creation of pull quotes:
