My company is moving across to G-Suite in the next month. Most of the images I use will be place on the MyDrive/Google Drive, this is cloud based and not a physical network drive.
So my questions is how to I place the image into InDesign with out having to download all the images to my desktop? I'm thinking of a InDesign app/add on? Maybe a G-Suite/Chrome add on
Thanks in advance.

There is no method of doing this from any Adobe application.
But you are right. A plug-in would be necessary to handle such links.

you probably don't want to work like that. what if you don't have an internet connection. you will have missing files. i recommend hosting files locally, packaging your jobs so everything is organize and with the files it belongs to.
that is just my two cents. i am not a fan of one folder with 40000 images and 1000000 loose indesign documents linking to one master folder.. but that is just me. i like to package and keep everything organize..

Agreed, my problem is we are six macs/creatives in 150+ PC's - we have to work with their systems.
It looks like i may have to push for a DAM/Workflow system as the google drive is not going to work.

To create a hi-res PDF from your InDesign file, you would need to download the hi-res image onto your local computer. It wouldn't have to be to the desktop -- it could of course be anywhere. It could even be embedded into the InDesign file itself.
I doubt that even a plugin could avoid that...

Hi
Regarding to external links, you can give this one a try :
https://www.emerasoft.com/digital-publishing/ctrlelink/
As for packaging/HD PDFs, a company I have been working with was using Van Gennep CMS solution which included a plugin that could allow external urls to be used inside InDesign. Fact is designers can package files without concerns for previously downloading hi res images from the database. But it's likely that the plugin does actually this behind the curtains.

Google just released FileStream... has anyone tried that yet?
Use work or school files on your computer with Drive File Stream - Google Drive Help

That's exactly what I'm searching for. How the heck can I get BRIDGE to cache images more quickly from which I'm browsing via Google Drive File Stream. Every time I open an image folder within our Drive File Stream, it takes BRIDGE forever to load previews. I even increased BRIDGE's cache size. Has to be something goofy with those images living in Google's Cloud and not on my local drive. I can see the cache files deep within my Mac ( User > Library > Caches > Adobe > Bridge CC 2017 ) but it's not doing anything to speed up BRIDGE. I'm hoping Adobe is working on this since Google just released Drive File Stream in late September 2017.

On that subject, you could ask in the Bridge forum.

That's why I have the g Drive app installed. Everything's local but still sync'ed to the cloud.
Way more efficient.

G Drive (Legacy version) is being discontinued soon. Have you migrated to G Drive FILE STREAM yet? Same concept, but FILE STREAM supports TeamDrives, whereas G Drive (Legacy) would only sync MyDrive.

I don’t really like it but I have a client using it.
I prefer OneDrive and Dropbox.
