I need text to appear on the document page in front of the items on the master page. The master page is a placed item from Illustror that covers the entire page.

Changing layers with the doc text box moved to the top did not work.

As soon as I move the doc text box just part way over the master page, the text disappears and the text frame shows over-set text., so I made sure the text wrap was off  on the master page and the document pages.

If I drag the text box into a tall column with part of it above/below the master page the text shows above and /below but not over the master page.

Hi Shirley,

add a new layer to your document and move the items that should be on top to that layer.

In case of an issue with a text frame, check if you have text wrap applied to some objects. Either on the document page or on the master that is applied to that page.

FWIW: With the text frames options you could click the option:

Ignore Text Wrap
