Indesign custom footnotes numbering

I am working on a complex 300 page book with many footnotes and have set up several sections.

Some sections need the footnotes to restart at 1 every page while others need to be contiuously numbered from page 1.

I also need to change the font for the footnotes in some sections. How can I set this up in Indesign since I can only setup one footnote style and only have the option to specify to restart the footnotes every section/page/spread globally for the entire document but not for each section? Is there a script?

Hi Kathrin,

you could perhaps split the 300 page document to two or more documents.

Then you can handle the footnotes differently in every document.

Scripts? Yes. There are a lot by Peter Kahrel. Check for example this page:

Hi Uwe

many thanks for your suggestion - I will look into splitting the document & going through Peter's tools!
