InDesign won't open anything

I'm having this problem where I cannot open anything inside a document, this is the message that pops up when I try to do so.

I tried restarting my Mac and unistalling and installing InDesign twice, but nothing works. I also tried different older versions but I keep getting the same message.

What can I do to fix this?

Hi

I got it to work, reinstated InDesign again, and this time it worked. I wasn't able to open or place anything, even pasting vector graphics from illustrator didn't work.

Thank you for your response!

Hi, InDesign cannot open jpeg files. You must place them in an existing document. BTW the jpeg file does not seem to be the actual file, but a resource used by the system (it starts with an underscore).
