Is it possible in Indesign to create Index entries like PDF search bookmarks. I would like in the PDF file, that the user can see (highlight or ....) the index bookmark ( an index pointing to bookmark, not only to page number)
Thanks for help
Jean
Hi Jean:
When you generate an Index using Window > Type & Tables > Index, and export the file to a PDF with Hyperlinks included, then the page numbers will hyperlink the reader to that page number in the document. If you want the entire entry to hyperlink, you will need to edit the PDF file. It is normal to just have the hyperlinks on the page numbers, so I don't recommend editing the links in Acrobat.

Yes, you can.
You can do manually - http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1592959&seqNum=6

And you can use it TOC and do all TOC entries as bookmarks: http://indesignsecrets.com/use-indesign-table-of-contents-to-make-pdf-bookmarks.php
Sorry, you are asking about Index. Don't read my last words 🙂

Hi Jean,
Thanks for reaching out. I'd recommend checking out the help article https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/creating-index.html to know all the details about creating an Index.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
Many thanks, but I read several times the Adobe help on this subject, and there is nothing on bookmark formating in the pdf files.
If you have a full text page ( more than 1000 words) how can you find the indexed word without reading the complete page ?
Regards
Jean
