Looking for an earlier version of InDesign

New Here ,
Apr 22, 2020 Apr 22, 2020

Hello. We use various versions of principle software AutoCad across our computers. We have been moving from stand-alone versions to subscription based, but have a computer with an early standalone of AutoCad LT 2014. Because this is not compatible with anything newer versions of Mac OS than El Cap, we haven't upgraded.

InDesign though isn't compatible with the early operating systems. Could we get a download link for a version of InDesign compatible with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6?

Thanks!

CreativeCloud-OtherVersions.pngTry this:

From the Creative Cloud App, open the elipses (the three little dots ... ) in the InDesign panel.

From there you can access 'other versions'

Let us know if that solves your issue.

Thanks Eric, but no - that doesn't lead to any other versions of InDesign to be downloaded....

Hi,

Can you include a screenshot of the window that appears when you click on 'Other Versions'. As you can see from the image below, I can access version 14 which should be compatible with your OS and even older ones using the 'View More' at the bottom of the window.

Here it is:

I note the creative cloud app says it only has updates for OS later than 10.12...

Thanks again

Version 14 is CC 2019 which is not compatible with El Capitan.

I have version 10.13 High Sierra. In design says update system requirements.

Suggestions on how or what I need to do? Apple neophyte!

Your Apple system is way too old for current software releases. Adobe don't supply software for High Sierra any more.

LATEST

CC2020 V15 will run on High Sierra, which you can currently install. If you want to run CC 2021 you would need to install Mojave 10.14 or later

Adobe now limits the available downloads to the two most recent versions, so CC2019 and CC2020 are your only options.

Thanks Rob - how come Eric can see earlier versions then?

Thanks for clarifying though.

If you have older versions installed they will show in the previous versions list.

Actually, what Eric's screenshot actually shows is really just two versions of InDesign (CC 2020—Version 15 and CC 2019—Version 14). Incremal updates for the latest version (15) are showing in the list which makes it appear that there are more than two versions available.

Thanks Rob and Bill
