I've been looking for a good answer on this for a few days - and trying to understand how best to approach these new InDesign projects I have coming up.
The ultimate need is being able to export, publish and print a single document into multiple formats....
For example - i'm creating a users manual that is physically printed into a booklet 5.5x8.5 finished printed size - facing pages
But i also have a need to export into PDF document for download from the web - 8.5 x 11 (not facing pages)
Or maybe a section of the document into a completely different output size for print or web....
I know i can output to PDF...
However - what considerations or settings do i need to take into account in my document setup process to assure i can output in the sizes i need without a complete redesign or overhaul of the layout and design.
Thanks in advance for any insight

Why can’t same PDF be put on the web for download?

Ahhh...okay - (i'm fairly new to indesign) - so maybe i'm assuming or mixing up capabilities with illustrator...
Your answer prompted me to experiment with an existing document - and i see a document originally set up as facing pages - i was able to export as a PDF doc...each page as single page - full 8.5x11 size...
I didn't want my facing pages to be printed on one page...
I was thinking this had to determined in the setup of the document - but it looks like i can choose the output size in various sizes and formats...
I just want to avoid having to redesign just because i want to output in a different size or format
