Portfolio Layout Design Text

Although this is not a technical issue, I couldn't think of where else to find an answer to this.

I am creating a portfolio in InDesign, to apply to MA courses in Graphic Design.

I am working with Layout Design, creating the covers and double page spreads for pretend magazines/ publications.

Can I use any text, copied and pasted from other sources for this? Or will I have to create passages of text myself for these projects?
