Problem : the selection frame is around the outline

Hello !

The selection frame is around the outline.

And the dimension of the frame changes depending on the thickness.

it's a bug ? Because on illustrator it's okay

how to center the selection frame like on illustrator ?

Hi,

Can you confirm the version of your software and operating system.

I have the same result. I noticed that in the ribbon, the object properties will adjust Width and Heigth to reflect which option is selected for the location of the stroke.

I could not find a property or setting to revert to the 'legacy' location of handles

I think it's just a difference in the way the applications display. InDesign sees the handles as the bounding box, which always surrounds the object, including stroke width. The handles display when the Selection tool is active. If you switch to the Direct Selection tool, you see path which may be at a different position.

Illustrator places the handles on the path. If you switch between Selection tool and Direct Selection tool, the handles stay at the same place. 

Also, notice that in Illustrator, you can show and hide the bounding box. There is no such command in InDesign. You always see the bounding box when an object is selected.

Another way to look at it: Illustrator is a drawing program. It's built around paths so it always shows the location of a path (boounding box on or off). InDesign is a page layout program. It's concerned with the dimensions of the objects you're laying out, represented by the bounding box.

Je ne vois pas en quoi il y a un bug : selon que le contour s'applique à l'intérieur, à l'extérieur ou à chaval, il est normal que les dimensions totales de l'objet changent. Et InDesign affiche toujours le cadre de sélection à l'extérieur. En revanche, tu peux choisir que les dimensions n'incluent pas l'épaisseur du contour, avec le menu déroulant à droite du panneau de contrôle.

Bonjour jmlevy et bien vu !

Je ne connaissais pas cette option, top !

Malgrés tout, c'est plutôt d'un manque de logique sur indesign.

Car le cadre de selection est toujours à l'exterieur du contour alors que sur ilustrator il s'adapte en focntion du type de contour (intérieur, à l'extérieur ou à chaval) ce qui est trés pratique car on aligne directement intérieur,l'extérieur ou à chaval sur ce que l'on souhaite.

Sur indesign il faut par exemple passer en coutour intérieur, aligner sur ses repères puis repasser en contour a cheval  pour que le cadre soit à cheval sur ce même repère (sauf si on à un coutour à 0 mais dès qu'il a une épaisseur cela ne marche plus directement) donc pas trés logique malgrés tout.
