I think you need to give us more information (perhaps include a screen capture). What do you mean by "link pages from a previously developed document without displacing page content"? Are you adding pages to the current document? Are you pasting text from the previous document into a new document? Are you embedding the text from the first document into the second document.

 

You can't "create a link" from text in one document to another.
