P: crashing when deleting in develop [9284035]

Hi, I have recently experienced LR crashing while I am deleting photo's from the tray. I have already edited & sync'd the files, it's when I scroll through & delete files I don't want is when the crash occures. It's not every deletion but random. I have been doing this process for years without issue. I am noticing that as I delete a file & another enters the tray it does not instantly load & crop to the sync'd file. Maybe this is creating the issue by deleting too fast??

Review of crash reporting indicates this is now fixed.

@dills58  Are you still seeing this crash after updating to 13.3?

Lightroom is freezing when sometimes clicking on the thumbnail image. I had this problem for months now. Strangely, 2 day ago a replaced my CPU ( I had ryzen 7 3800x and now I have ryzen 5950x), added more ram (32 GB ddr4 now instead of 16 ), added a new SSD Samsung 990 pro 2tb forthe OS (where LIghtroom is installed) and the problem persist.  With all this hardaware changed, I've reinstalled win 11 pro from stcratch. While ligtroom is dead, the rest of the pc is working normally. My video card is RTX 3060 and all the drivers are updated. I'm I professional photographer and I have thousand of images every week to process. Can't afford to lose time with constant crashes.

If I read that correctly, you replaved the CPU in a existing computer, That is you did not replace the computer, but you updated it.

My video card is RTX 3060 and all the drivers are updated

And I read that as you have updated all drivers (not just the GPU)

Ok, as you changed out a component on the Motherboard, the CPU, with different spec, did you check the drivers for the various parts of the motherboard? Typically the Chip Set drivers. THese drivers may or may not get updated via MS WIndows updates (typically not). Some think that if they run the MS Updates, that stuff gets checked (typically it does not). You would need to go to the computer or motherboard manufacturers support web page for the drivers. YOu might have a app for that.

Drivers for components on the Motherboard can include (but not limited) to:

  • Audio
  • BlueTooth
  • Chip Set
  • LAN (Ethernet on MB)
  • SATA controller
  • Thunderbolt (on very very nice rigs)
  • VGA (Integrated video either on MB or part of CPU if CPU is so equipped)
  • Wireless (WiFI on MB)

Incidentally, that VGA one could be a trip point in a CPU change. And I myself ran into an issue with the Chip Set on a brand new PC.

I installed every driver for the motherboard from the MSI website. I had the same problem with the old installation of windows and old components. Strage huh? No other software is freezing other the LR Classic. I do alot of astrophotography also and run software like Pixinsight, stacking tons of data and never had any problems.

The team has asked if you can share your system info:

Help: System Info

and a copy of your Lightroom Classic Catalog: (.lrcat)?

Hi thanks for the reply, I am a very basic user of Lightroom, editing only. I do not use catalogs that I know of I just import, edit & export to a folder on my desk top. I am getting the crashes after I have edited & sync'd the tray then I go about cropping & straightening or deleting. While deleting I get the crashes, up to 5 times on a 500 image edit. I am editing m/raw CR3 files. My last shoot was using high JPEG & I didn't have the crashes???? Same file size.

Cheers Alan.

Engineering is asking for the following information:

# Catalog from the users facing the issue
# Information regarding GPU config in use
# Specific workflows that lead to crash

Is it possible to supply these items?
