P: Image with focus on the filmstrip becomes desaturated on the 2nd display -Develop module

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 13.0.1 Release (Camera Raw 16.0)
Windows 10 version 22H2 (Build 19045.3693)

 

I am using two calibrated monitors, laptop + external.
LR's Secondary Window is on the external monitor, showing the Survey view. 

 

LR on the primary monitor is in the Develop module, with two near-identical images selected on the filmstrip. The image with focus on the film strip becomes slightly desaturated on the secondary monitor - the image next to it is shown correctly (!), so this cannot be an issue with monitor profile.

 

The saturation changes are not immediate or simultaneous. Times below are guesstimated.

1) Focus changed on filmstrip

-100ms delay-

2) Image that lost focus regains saturation on the secondary display

-100ms delay-

3) Image that has gained focus loses saturation on the secondary display

 

Same behaviour if three images are selected on the filmstrip.

Exiting LR and restarting makes no difference.

Problem is not present in the Library module.

 

I have just discovered that the issue is present in the Secondary display's Loupe mode too. If a single image is selected on the filmstrip in the Develop module it displays correctly for a fraction of a second, then desaturates. This had been plaguing me earlier - but I thought it had stopped. Perhaps not, I've been having trouble all day getting consistent results.

    I am having this issue too,  what is the latest?

    I can see this as well. It is very subtle on my machines. Logging a ticket for investigation.

      My workaround: Reverting to 12.5.1 release - my procedure is below.

       

      Background: I had an urgent job. Ironically I updated LR before starting to take advantage of the bug fixes. I should have known better. I do know better -"If it ain't broke, don't fix it". 

      I had selected 300 photos out of around 3500 and had put a lot of work into keywords to facilitate later sorting. Then I came to the final adjustments and have been hugely delayed by this color shift problem.

       

      My procedure (partly from memory - I'm running late enough on this job already, so apologies for any error and omissions):

      1) Ensure that you have xmp files for all the images you need to work on. I usually do this when I create a new catalog.

      (Edit>Catalog Settings>Metadata>Automatically write changes into XMP)

       

      2) Select all the images you need to work on

       

      3) File>Export as Catalog 

         Check "Export selected photos only"

         Check "Export negative files"

      Select a meaningful name and location for this subset of the v13 catalog contents so it can be readily found.

       

      4) Exit LR and install LR v12.5.1 (In CC Desktop click "..." next to LR's "Open" button. Click "Other versions").

       

      5) Open LR. It will complain about the v13 catalog. Choose "New Catalog", giving it a meaningful name and location.

       

      6) Import your selected photos, which will be in a subdir under the catalog exported in step 3.

       

      7) Your photos will progressively update with any adjustments you previously made.
