P: LR suddenly quits when moving to Maps mode

As this has happened to me over a dozen times in the past few weeeks, and after each instance the dialog box appears stating there is no known solution so would I like to sned in a report, I am hoping it is not breaking news. But, when I attempt to go to the Maps mode from Library or Develop after having selected a few (or a few dozen) images, LRC unexpectantly quits.

Through trial and error, I have found that if I do not make an image selection and then go to Maps mode, it usually does not just quit - so there is that. But obviously not what was intended, since this is new behavior since gettting the latest update of LRC.

If it is pertinant, I am runing this on an M1 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM (and an external 2TB SSD) on OSX 11.5.1

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

Yes, an oddity under bugs, Adobe is working out the kinks.

Looks like the only helpful bit from the sys info is verification that you have LrC v10.4 (was a bit of missing info in first post)

Operating system: Mac OS 11
Version: 11.5.1 [20G80]

I would ask why not update to v11.5.2, but no one not working at Apple appears to know what the unspecified bug fixes were, and the update does not appear to offer much, and some have had issues with the update (at least when you Google MACOS v11.5.2, that is what one finds)

Nothing in the Sys Info stands out as an issue.

Probably not the cause of your problem, but, several plugins appear to be older ones, likely for earlier versions of external editors, etc.

17, 18, 19

20, 21

just what is 22? curious

26, 27

28, 29

Now their existance will not hurt performance, they are just some bit if data read at start. But odd. Might cause extra entrys in Edit In, and Plugin extras.

Not important but #11, that still comes with LrC, may be useless (all hail FB not) And doess # 12 still work? (some have had issues, problem not at Adobe)

Are these crashes occurring on your first access to the Map module after importing photos?  Others have reported that in the last few months:

to @John R Ellis - yes, now that you mention it, it does seem to be after an initial importing of new images...which might also explain why I could not repeat the issue earlier today

That bug report didn't get copied over in the great consolidation of a couple days ago.  I've asked that it get copied over, and then your report can merged into that report, so all the information is together.
