P: Nikon Z8 Firmware 2.0 breaks tether in Lightroom

Hallo Zusammen,

seit dem Firmware-Update 2.0 auf die Z8 ist kein USB Tethering mit Lightroom mehr möglich. 

In LR 13.2 Windows bekomme ich keine Verbindung zu stande.  Im Windows Explorer habe ich Zugriff, und auch mit Camera Control Pro klappt das Tethering.

Aktuell forogr. mit Cam. Control Pro in einen von Lightroom automatisch überwachten Ordner – das geht, jedoch ist die Übertragung gefühlt viel langsammer als vor dem Firmware Update und mit LR Tethering Steuerung. Wer hat ähnliche Erfahrungen / kann mir helfen !

Ich habe das gleiche Problem. Habe es Nikon gemeldet- aber (noch) keine Antwort erhalten. Wo kann ich einen Fehler bei Adobe Melden?

Der Workaround geht bei mir auch mit NX Tether- ist aber sehr langsam bis die Bilder geladen sind. grrrrr....

Bonjour, le mode connecté avec LrC et le Nikon Z8 ne fonctionne pas, comme le Nikon Z9. Adobe à prévu une mise à jour ou bien faiut il attendre une réponse de Nikon?

What is the version of LrC you are using?

Habe das gleiche Problem am Mac. Ist mir auch ein Rätsel, weshalb das nicht ausreichend von Adobe kommuniziert wird?

Grade mit Nikon und Adobe LR Classik hatte ich schon sehr oft Probleme bei Tether Aufnahmen und die Korrektur des Fehlers dauert manchmal Monate. Wirklich Nervig

Das geht nur im Adobe Chat. Ich habe da das Problem beschrien und gemeldet. Die haben aber keine Lösung angeben.

Nur das man zur Community gehen soll. Irgendwie unprofessionell von Adobe. Ich finde, solche Probleme müssten die schneller lösen und eventuell mit dem Kamerahersteller kommunizieren. Ist ja kein Anwendungsfehler, den man in einer Community lösen kann. Das geht nur über die Software. Aber Adobe kümmert sich anscheinend lieber um die ganzen neuen KI-Tools ? Wirklich Nervig

Hallo zusammen

Ich hatte das gleiche Problem- das Theterin mit der Nikon Z8 und Furmware 2.0 geht nicht mehr. Nikon weigert sich, die alte Version 1.01 herauszugeben und behauptet, eine alte Firmware kann nicht aufgespielt werden.
Da ich das Tethering zwingend benötige (geht mit NX Tether ist aber unbrauchgbar da sehr langsam), habe ich die alte Firmware 1.01 wieder aufgespielt- und siehe, alles geht wieder. Auf die Version 2.0 warte ich jetzt bis Adobe nachgebessert hat. Hoffe, das dauert nicht zu lange.
(Hardware: Rechner Intell i7 und Windows 10)
Bin von dem Service und Falschaussage von Nikon sehr enttäuscht.

Hallo Thomas, danke für die Information, ja ich bin auch sehr von der Antwort von Nikon enttäuscht. Hatte die angeschrieben und keine vernünftige Antwort bekommen. Nur das Nikon mit der Software von Drittanbietern nicht zu tun hat.

Adobe stellt sich allerdings auch nicht sehr flexibel an. Ich glaube bei Capture one geht alles besser und schneller. Wie bist du an die Alte Nikon Firmware ran gekommen 1.001 ? Ich möchte auch zurück

I have the problem with Tethering in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic didn`t found any of my Z-Cameras. If I will start the tethering, Lightroom is trying to connect and this ends up in a endless searching loop. I have been contact the Support from Adobe, but no solution. All cameras has the newest firmware and the Lightroom Version is 13.2 OS is Windows 11. The tethering via NX Tethering from Nikon is working fine. Also the workaround with NX Tethering and Lightroom together is working. But Tethering with Lightroom doesn`t work. Is there any solution?

Agree, same Problem! No Soloution! Helpless Adobe support.

Historically, I suspect it often takes two or three LrC upgrades before tethering is available after the release of new cameras.

At the moment the Z8 is the only one of your cameras listed in the Tether list (requires LrC v13.0)-

I would like to know if other people are like me, since I updated my Nikon Z8 to version 2, 
there is impossible for me to take photos in connected mode with Lightroom 13.2 . 

Before this update of my Nikon Z8 I had no problem shooting in connected mode with Lightroom 13.2.

With Nikon NX Tether software, no more worries about capturing in connected mode, 
I just have the problem with connected mode of lightroom 13.2.

Despite the various solutions proposed by Adobe support, my problem is not resolved,
even taking control of my computer.
Please let me know if you have the same problem and if you have found a solution.

If you meaa tethering, then the fact that it's not working is becasue tethering of the Z8 II isn't currently supported. You can see the supported cameras at https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/tethered-camera-support.html

Hello, It's not a Nikon Z8 II,
but a Nikon Z8 with which I could shoot in tethered mode with lightrooom 13.2 
before Nikon provided an update to the Nikon Z8's frimware called version 2.

My mistake re the camera model. That being said, Firmware 2 for Z8 broke tethering in Lightroom. There's thread on this forum, and others on DPreview, Reddit, etc.

Danke, Thomas, für dein Angebot. Habe die Firmware schon bekommen, also die alte 1.001. jetzt geht wieder alles.

Aber schon irgendwie verrückt, dass Adobe da kein Update von LR Klassik herausbringt? Bei capture one  funktioniert wohl alles mit Nikon Z8 und der neuen Firmware.

My z9 works with lightroom. And some months ago my z8 worden too - but meanwhile lightroom does not nonnect to my z8.

My z9 connected before the last LR update. Now I can't get it to connect at all with 4.1. or 5.0 FW. It worked fine with 4.1 and previous version of LR classic. I can't even get it to recognize my ZF either. Tried 3 different cables, area 51, Tether tools and a generic one I found in the house. However, My D850 works fine.  using mac os 13.6.6. Super frustrating. I can get my z9 to connect to capture 1, but prefer to use LR for school portraits. come on Adobe.... help!
