The bug was reported to the team already. I have linked your post to that bug so that when a fix is issued, you will receive notification via this thread.

After my HD crashed, I had to install all Acrobat apps on the new HD in my MacBook Pro (Big Sur). Everything went well, except that in Lightroom CC I don't have the Import button in the Library tab. It is not that is greyed out, it is not there at all. Several reinstallations did not solve the issue. When I close LR CC, I get an error message with no proposed solution. Anyone who knows what is going on?

The screenshot shows an empty catalog. Trash it so Lightroom Classic is forced to create a new one. Does that solve it?

Thanks Johan. I trashed all catalogues, removed LR CC and reinstalled it. Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem.

I was just looking at your second screenshot. The error seems to say that the problem is corrupted preferences. The preferences are not reset if your reinstall Lightroom. Delete them (don't just reset them) and try again: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Preference files removed, LR CC removed, system restarted, LR CC installed. Still no solution.

The only thing left is really starting from scratch: https://helpx.adobe.com/nl/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Even this is not working. Reinstallation of Big Sur did not solve the problem after I removed everything that is related to Adobe applications.

LR is completely unuseable. Is there any update on this? Am I the only one or all Mac users? This is really frustrating.

You are not the only one. Me too. I felt like I was the only one!  It is so frustrating. LRC completely unusable. I am using bridge > camera raw > photoshop, but this is seriously a much slower, more clicks workflow. I would love to hear if anyone has a better workflow alternative.

This worked for me.  Maybe it will help you while we wait for the fix from Adobe.

Restart your Mac in Safe mode.  Apparently, that cleans out some caches in addition to only starting necessary processes.  While in Safe mode check to see if LrC performs normally.  It did for me.  Then Shutdown your Mac (DO NOT do a restart), wait 30 seconds or so then power your Mac up again.  Hopefully, LrC is working properly again now.  From this point on do not Restart your Mac, always do a Shutdown followed by a Power On, if you have to for some reason.  This has fixed the problem for me a couple of times.  I just had to get into the habit of not Restarting.  (I don't know why a Restart "breaks" LrC but Shutdown and Power On doesn't?). Good luck.

David

Thank you David. Unfortunately, in safe mode the same problem. Had to close the application with Cmd-Alt-Esc. Now waiting until Adobe comes with a solution.
