4k Issue with Lightroom Classic

Hi,

I have a client experiencing lag while scrolling. The system specs are as follows:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 4.2GHz, 128MB L3 Cache (Model: 100-100000908WOF)
  • Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB AERO OC (Model: GV-N407TSAERO OC-16GD G10) - 2 of these installed
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX V2 Socket AM5 ATX (Model: X670 GAMING X AX V2 G10)
    Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 64GB (32x2) F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5RK DDR5
  •

We've run extensive hardware checks and stress tests on all components, and nothing appears faulty. We even replaced the motherboard, but the issue persists.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem or have any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks in advance!

Lag while scrolling where? Library Module? Develop Module? Somewhere else?

Does the resource monitor indicate any particular part of the computer is highly utilized when this happens?

What version NUMBER of Lightroom Classic? What operatign system version NUMBER?

A quick update:

When we used a different GPU (the 1660), the problem was resolved. We then tested the 4070, and Lightroom initially performed well; we couldn't replicate the issue at first.

We formatted the computer again, installed the latest drivers, fully updated Windows, reinstalled Lightroom—and the problem reappeared. We tried installing GeForce Experience and optimized settings, but the issue persisted. It seems that when we installed the 1660, something was automatically disabled, which resolved the problem. The only possible cause that comes to mind is Ray Tracing, but we couldn’t find an option to disable it for Lightroom, nor an option in DirectX settings.

What version of the gpu driver are you using? There are many reports that the studio driver is what you should use and not the gaming one.
