Adaptive Color Profile not Being applied

New Here ,
Jun 29, 2025 Jun 29, 2025

Hello. I used Adaptive Color Profile when it was first released but I seem to be having issues with it now. When I select it it is making zero changes to the image. The Histogram isn't changing at all (it was, significantly in cases, when I first used it).

Using LRC v14.4 on MacOS 15.5 on a 13 inch 1019 Macbook Pro. Screenshots attached when bot profiles applied with no adjustments made elsewhere.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

Hi Axel, thanks for the suggestion. I have just completed this and still no resolution. Even when the Adaptive Color Profile is selected I am not even getting the slider to change the amount.

Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

- Your GPU has only 1.5 GB of graphics memory, significantly less than the minimum of 2 GB required by LR:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/system-requirements/2025.html

There have been many reports of LR's AI commands failing on GPUs with less than the required minimum.

Thanks very much for that. I woulnd't have found that information easily online. Yes, I am noticing that every year that passes more issues (or less capabilities) are presenting themselves. This issue makes sense.

I just started having the same problem after the most recent update. Adaptive profiles have worked fine up until now, suddenly they do nothing. Selecting Adaptive B&W doesn't even make the image B&W, literally does nothing.

I installed older versions of the app that used to work, but now it doesn't work in those versions either. Resetting preferences didn't help anything.

I suspect your issue is the same as the OP. Your GPU has a maximum of 1.5GB whereas the minimum requirement is 2GB.

Sure, but like I said, this feature has worked since its introduction until suddenly not working anymore a few days ago the first time trying to use it after a software updatee. And Adaptive Profiles aren't nearly as hardware intensive as Denoise, which continues to function perfectly, if slowly. Plus the fact that it doesn't give any kind of error or crash or any indication that it hasn't worked. It just does nothing. I don't think it makes sense for it to be a hardware issue, I think it's a bug. The only thing that confuses me is that it no longer works on older versions, either. But I haven't attempted to completely uninstall and wipe out my entire Lightroom installation and start from scratch, so who knows.

The Camera Raw engine is constantly improving how it uses the GPU, and the code in a new release could be tripping over GPU limitations (e.g. not enough memory) that the previous release didn't.  It's often the case that there is no error message or crash when there isn't enough GPU memory.

"The only thing that confuses me is that it no longer works on older versions, either. "

There may have been an update to the graphics driver behind your back.

But regardless of whether it's a mistake in LR's code that's specific to this GPU, Adobe wouldn't pay any attention, since the amount of graphics memory is less than the minimum required.

I also just upgraded to Sequoia.  Adaptive Color profile is missing in both PS and LR.  I am also not able to send a photo with LR adjustments to PS.  I can send an original file w/o LR adjustments but that is not my preference.  I will attach the info you asked for above.  Hope you can help sort this out.
