When I use the adjustment brush on a person or animal then tinker with the settings I'm fine with that. I have a problem after when I try to tinker with settings for the whole photo those settings will overlap my adjustment brush area I just worked on. How do I make it where I can have separate settings for my adjustment brush area and new settings for the background and everything else?
You can't easily do this because it would require another set of masks for the background areas and masks often have soft edges so alignment would be an issue.
Its a matter or workflow. Would suggest to work the image as a whole first (global adjustments) then refine any areas you need to with the adjustment brush tools (local adjustments)
Note that if you then adjust globally again you will need to refine the local adjustments.
