AI tools keep requiring updating

Have client with a catalog issue that I cant resolve

AI edits with remove tool and masks need to all be updated all the time

took these steps

1. Go to Library Grid view.

2. Click All Photographs.

3. Do the menu command Photo > Stacking > Expand All Stacks.

4. Select all the photos.

5. Do the menu command Photo > Develop Settings > Update AI Settings.

only updated a few, not all of them

questions

why do they requires updating and why did the update AI setting miss most of them

These symptoms can occur when LR can't write the .lrcat-data file for some reason, either because LR has corrupted it or there is a permissions issue. LR stores computed masks in that file. Try these steps:

1. In LR, do Edit > Catalog Settings > General > Show. That will open Windows File Explorer on the current catalog folder.

2. Exit LR.

3. Move the file <catalog>.lrcat-data to the Desktop.

4. Start LR.

5. In Library, select all photos and do Photo > Develop Settings > Update AI Settings. That will

Thanks John. No happy about having to recreate all the removes as it does take up to a minute on each image but happy to know what thie issue is an at least have a solution

I am experiencing the same issue even after following these instructions. My lightroom CC is up to date and the catalog lives on my desktop. It does not matter if I "Update AI settings" they seem to go away and wont stay.  My computing power is not the issue and i've tried restarting.

@briannak61661338, do the menu command Help > System Info. What is the version of Lightroom Classic shown on the first line?
