Ended up deleting everything Adobe related using the Adobe Cleaner Tool and reinstalled everything. Note that this deletes everything including Preferences, Photoshop actions etc. So make a backup of the things you need.

Thanks for the community help with this issue - came back to the issue today (been busy with life) and the latest update of Lightroom has fixed whatever the error was!

I can't reproduce that on my M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro and MacOS 14.5. Try resetting the preferences to see if that solves the issue: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Hey, @Aerodatic.com. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Is there a crash report when Lightroom crashes? Please submit the crash reports to us: https://adobe.ly/45BlpG4

To begin troubleshooting, test some variables like:

  • Unplug any external peripherals & use wired input devices.
  • Unplug external drives.
  • Temporarily, unplug extra displays & only keep one active at a time.

Try this series of steps:

  • Uninstall Lightroom Classic & restart the machine
  • Instal Lightroom Classic again, but do not launch it yet.
  • Ensure Lightroom Classic has the required permissions on macOS: https://adobe.ly/45AcLYx
  • Try launching Lightroom Classic now.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Yes. And now that I'm noticing, it's interesting this seems to affect only MBP M1 16".
